The Illinois Tactical Officers Association, in cooperation with the Tinley Park Police Department, is pleased to offer this dynamic training opportunity:


Immediate Trauma Care Instructor Course

Date: April 2nd – 4th, 2024

Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Location: Elmhurst, Illinois

The Immediate Trauma Care Instructor Certification Program, spanning three days and totaling 24 hours, is a program is strategically designed to empower Police, Fire, and EMS personnel to emerge as adept instructors, equipped with the profound knowledge and skills required to teach life-saving and sustaining immediate trauma care practices along with associated equipment.

This comprehensive curriculum delves into the treatment and survival of traumatic injuries, covering a diverse range, including severe bleeding, amputations, penetrating injuries, upper chest injuries, and other airway injuries. Participants will receive a thorough explanation of human anatomy and its correlation to traumatic injuries, setting the foundation for an in-depth understanding of the subject matter.

Led by seasoned instructors, this program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical demonstrations. Instructors will showcase proper practices and techniques for treating serious injuries, utilizing both commercially available and improvised equipment. Participants will gain expertise in the proper application and limitations of crucial techniques such as tourniquet usage, wound packing, pressure points, pressure dressings, airway management, and occlusive dressings.

The program's unique feature lies in allowing participants to practice teaching these critical skills. Evaluation through practical exercises and a comprehensive written test ensures that successful participants demonstrate proficiency as instructors in immediate trauma care practices, techniques, and equipment.

Upon successfully completing the Immediate Trauma Care Instructor Certification Program, participants will not only have honed their skills but will also possess the ability to instruct others effectively.

Cost:

ITOA Members course only: $500.

Non-Members course only: $540 (includes a 1-year ITOA membership)

ABOUT ITOA

This is an opportunity for tactical officers to gather together to compare ideas and experiences. Through education and networking, it was hoped that high-risk operations requiring the use of a tactical team would be made safer.
