WARRANT SERVICE FOR PATROL COURSE
Hoffman Estates IL. – August 23-26, 2021 (9am-5pm)
The ITOA Warrant Service for Patrol class is designed to equip police officers that are not part of a formal SWAT team with the skills to safely and effectively execute a warrant service. This four-day course will teach patrol officers, narcotics officers, and investigators the elements of warrant service execution including, operational planning, legal considerations, intelligence gathering; proper briefing and rehearsals, weapon handling, room entry and building searches, combatives, and contingency operations. This class will culminate in student run warrant service operations.
* This class is NOT designed to teach how to write a search warrant, rather it is designed to teach how to execute a search warrant.
Required Gear: Duty gear, Eye/ear Protection, Duty Weapon, Long Gun (if dept. equipped) Helmet (if equipped) & Writing Material. The course requires every attendee to be equipped with a converted patrol rifle and pistol that shoot marking cartridges. Officers should have a minimum of 50 marking rounds (any color). Officers should also bring protective mask and neck protection if available. Officers without converted weapons and marking rounds may attend – ITOA has a limited number of training weapons, so please make every effort to obtain them for the class.
METHODS OF EVALUATION: Students will be evaluated by taking a written test, participation in practical exercises and reality-based training scenarios with converted weapons & marking cartridges.
METHODS OF INSTRUCTION: This course will be conducted utilizing the following methods of instruction:
- In-class lecture & discussion
- Powerpoint presentation utilizing a multi-media projector
- Practical Hands-On Tactical Training
- Practical training exercises & realistic scenario-based training
- Operational critiques, observations and discussions
Course Costs: Members $485.00 Non-Members $525.00 (includes a one year ITOA membership)
