While the three-day conference is open to all executives and can also include attending the Executive Symposium - this one-day Executive Symposium is specially designed to present current critical topics to Chief Executives and their command staff who may not be able to attend the full three-day conference.
Presenters at the one-day Executive Symposium include:
Dr. William Lewinski – Force Science
Dr. Lewinski is the co-founder and executive director of Force Science and a leading behavioral scientist whose work has focused on the study of human dynamics involved in life threatening encounters. His presentation, Piercing the Heart of Danger, examines perceptual, cognitive and physiological arousal under stress. Using evidence from thousands of officers who have survived deadly force encounters and detailed investigations from hundreds of OISs, Dr. Lewinski provides the tools and practice methods to help tactical officers effectively manage and maximize decision making and performance when it counts.
Steve Ijames
Steve Ijames is a use-of-force and active shooter response expert with over 40 years of experience in Law Enforcement and Security. His presentation includes a debrief of a February 2026 incident that involved the murder of two deputies and wounding of two others. Discussion includes emphasis on the Incident Command System (ICS) being the "real deal" for large scale multi-agency tactical operations, how mastery of the basics determines who lives/dies at the crisis site, and that effective communications are the key element to successfully resolving high-risk arrest situations.
This event has been submitted for 6 hours of Chief / Deputy Chief training hours through ILETSB.
The One-Day Executive Symposium includes: A One Year ITOA Membership, and Lunch, all for just $150.00.

If you are already registered for the full 3-Day ITOA Conference, there is no additional charge to attend the Executive Symposium. You can simply attend the Executive events on Monday instead of the general sessions.
